From its foundation, the KAGA received many great explorers, colonialists and travelers. The society's main activity was organizing lectures by such people about their experiences and discoveries. Some personalities were given a gold medal by the Society, in honour of their merits in geography and science. Expeditions were also regularly supported, both financially and practically.
The society's members celebrated major anniversaries with grand dinners, social events and glorious presentations. Over the years, received renowned figures such as Adrien de Gerlache, Robert Falcon Scott and Roald Amundsen. Sometimes exhibitions were arranged, alone or together with other associations.
Indeed, the KAGA kept in touch with other geographical and scientific societies from all over the world. They exchanged their periodical (The Bulletin) and other publications.
